Support for kidney failure

The kidney contains more than one million small filters called “renal corpuscles”. These filter the blood and remove waste products. Kidney failure occurs when the number of corpuscles decreases, affecting kidney function. The blood is no longer filtered properly, resulting in additional loss of water, salts and nutrients.  surviving kidney failure, often chronic kidney failure

SANIMED Renal dry cat food contains reduced levels of phosphorous, which slows the loss of renal corpuscles. In addition, this food contains a high concentration of fish oil, which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, improving blood flow to the kidneys and lowering blood pressure. A high vitamin E content protects your cat’s kidney cells from further damage. In addition, the low protein content in this food reduces the production of urea (a by-product of the breakdown of protein). Finally, the low salt content helps control the blood pressure. Cats with kidney failure often experience loss of appetite. SANIMED Renal dry cat food is a tasty treat for your cat, helping to prevent further weight loss.

SANIMED Renal dry food and SANIMED Renal wet food are fully interchangeable and work great in combination.

Feeding schedule: SANIMED Renal

Follow the feeding schedule in the table, but adjust the feeding ration as needed to maintain your cat’s ideal weight. Divide your cat’s daily food intake over 2 or more meals a day. Monitor your cat’s physical condition and make sure your cat always has access to fresh, clean drinking water.

Cats with kidney failure often experience loss of appetite. That is why we recommend making the switch to SANIMED Renal gradually. You can use the transition table below to plan a gradual switch.

It is very important to test your pet’s urine regularly. Try to avoid stress and always provide plenty of fresh water. Ask your veterinarian or veterinary assistant about the best treatment for your cat.
